  • I really want to get the distance between my fork and wheel cut to a minimum. Unfortunately there isn't any bike shops in my area so I haven't got anyone to ask. Can anyone here tell me how to reduce the gap between front fork and tyre?

  • Bigger tyres...

  • Get a bigger tyre.

    Get a different fork.

Alter the fork, via Ted James.

  • File the drop outs.

  • Mudguards...

  • Get an eccentric front hub. will only work some of the time though...

  • Bigger wheels...

  • More air pressure.

  • See the max pressure on the tyre sidewall? Triple it.

  • Get a new bike with tighter clearance...

  • Filler under the bridge, then paint corresponding colour...

  • Imagine its closer.

  • Ok... that's my lot.

  • The wheels I have are 700c - do you think 25c gyres would do to cut the inch gap?

    Photoshop

  • Cut the forks and weld them back up again. Or you could try putting a magnet in the bottom of the steerer

  • No.

If you can find a 'gyre' it may well do the trick.

If you mean tyre: I'm not allowed on the internet any longer but I seem to remember something called Google. Alternatively, have you heard of 'calculators'? There may even be one on your computer...

Ted would be able to alter the forks for you for a price. If you are interested I'll pm you his number.

  • No.

Bugger. I'll look into filing then

    Yes plz that'd be great!

  • Filing won't either.

  • @oz how would a magnet work on this?

  • It would attract the rim closer to the crown of the fork. You'd want to remove the magnet when the wheel isn't being turned or the wheel would turn egg shaped

  • This is the first and last time I will ever use this term...

    OMG

@oz how would a magnet work on this?
