  • Do you have "stayed connected to wifi while device sleeps" or whatever that option is?

  • "WiFi Sleep Policy" - What is yours set to?

  • No. That could be an issue. It tries to get a new IP every time the screen goes out overloading itself and/or the router's DHCP table with addresses for a single device.

  • "When screen turns off" so to does wifi.

  • Mine wifi sleep policy is set to "Never". Perhaps doing the same will help? It will use more power obv.

  • Yeah, I'm thinking it could be a culprit. I never had this problem before, and never looked at my wifi policy. However, Redux is a ROM pretty focused on battery life. I can imagine it may have made this a default setting which is why only after switching ROMs the problem has come up.

  • I'll send my invoice to the usual address?

  • Pfft, this was a team effort if anything.

  • There's no cashmoney in team.. http://www.lfgss.com/post2139402-4604.html

  • I'm just playing with a Motorola Xoom, fuck it's nice. Very lush.

Android works so much better on a tablet than iOS does. I had returned my iPad, it was largely useless to me. But this tablet is really really nice and finally the responsiveness of things like map is better than the iPad experience but with the full richness of Google Maps.

Going to have to get one.

  • Velocio, if you manage to get hold of a LG Optimus Pad, ASUS Transformer or even the HTC Flyer, please give us your thoughts on them?
Or anybody can for that matter.......

    ASUS Transformer

Has some extremely positive reviews, and its price beats the competition to death. A proper business tool, IMO.
VB is clearly ahead of the curve.

  • Just ordering an ASUS Transformer

  • Talking of which, I got given a Elonex eTouch 10" Android Tablet by my boyfriend. Very basic and runs on 1.6 as far as I know but useful as a kindle :P

  • So i got my Samsung galaxy s 2 last friday...

It is brilliant, as a phone it is excellent, as a smartphone its even better... everything is buttery smooth, no lag anywhere, screen is better than anything else on the market including IP4 and the best bit in my opinion, despite all of the advanced features and hardware... the batttery lasts a whole day with full on usage.... I mean browsing, calls, camera the lot...

I would recomend this to anyone, touchwiz will annoy me ina few weeks i recon but i will be replacing with launcher pro anyway...

    key things

    1. good battery life
    2. immense screen quality
    3. switches on under 15 seconds from fully off.
    4. you can run as many apps as you can thihk of just doesnt slow down...

Other bits its well thin and well light... but thats because of the cheap materials used thin plastics etc... i prefer it this way but will put a lot of people off as it doesnt have any aluminium... so anyone upgrading should definately considder this one...

  • Nice one. I just need someone to review the HTC Sensation, then I can make up my mind.

The screen resolution is higher than the iPhone 4?

  • The screen resolution is higher than the iPhone 4?

No its a standard resolution 800*480 but the way the super amoled plus works its has double the sub pixels or something (im not 100% how it works) than the old style amoled screens that makes the screen res look amazing... if you zoom in maximum you can still see pixels which i guess you cant in the ip4 but for normal uses you will never see any pixilation...

Also the colour vibrancy on the amoled is outstanding...

  • Nice one. I just need someone to review the HTC Sensation, then I can make up my mind.

i platyed with a pre release sensation a few weeks back, i liked it but a lot wasn't working on the handset i had tried... that said i i still would go with the galaxy s 2... its tinner, ligher and just feels better to use...

however sense on the new HTC is miles better than touchwiz but as i mentioned its easily replacable...

  • I had narrowed my upgrade choices down to just a few phones, and these are my musings:

*Motorola Atrix* - Good, and fast, but unlikely to be OS updated to keep pace with HTC. Laptop dock is too pricey to be serious.

*LG Optimus 2X* - Unsure if LG can keep pace with HTC and even Samsung. That said, its extremely fast, but the UI isn't as polished as others.

*HTC Sensation* - Looks like a winner. Nothing against it except it has less RAM than some competitors.

*Samsung Galaxy S II* - Hard to fault. Will challenge the screen brilliance of the Sensation, though that has a higher pixel count. The Galaxy does win on top HSDPA speed, 21Mbps!

So for me, its the Samsung Galaxy S II. I did like the single core Xperia Arc, its a thing of beauty, but for performance.......its a little behind the big boys.

  • That's why I said don't go for xperia range. But you don't listen! Pfft.

  • I always listen to you Lil. Its everybody else that I ignore.

  • Just ordering an ASUS Transformer

Popping over to the states next month, and tempted to pick one up, so would be interested in any reviews....

  • the sensation has higher resolution but in no way can it compete with the galaxy screen...

on top of that there is a 1gb of ram, and it records at 1080p 30fpd video.. which i have tried quickly and the result is incredible..
