Is that right, just tightening too much can cause the problem?
Could not see notches, or feel notches when I fingertipped the cups.
Not sure what headset tools are. The bits that need to be tool-pressed on to the frame were done by the LBS, I did the rest using two spanners.
Reason I'm asking is to find out whether the notchy effect can be caused by bearings alone. Searched Sheldon etc but can't find an answer to that.
Course I could just go buy some bearings, weak as the bank is I guess that won't break it.
