  • I just pounced on a brand new, unused, perfect condition campag chorus crankset I found on gumtree for a tenner. Bargain I thought.

Until I got home, realized that the seller has probably tried forcing the wrong pedal into the right crank/forced in at an angle so a third of the thread is completely stripped.

Is it still safe to cycle with only half to 2/3 of thread still intact? I am doubting it but just thought I'd ask. Screwed a pedal in and it fits snug as the rest of the thread is brand new. These cranks haven't been used (apart from someone wrecking the thread while trying them out with pedals) and they're obviously worth a pretty penny so I don't want to end up not using them on my build.

    Cheers for any help.
