A while back a mate of mine from work was using a CT scanner (massive, expensive and stupidly complicated) and some guys from Specialized showed up with a whole Carbon frame. They were looking at fibre discontinuties and resin rich areas. Anyway, what I am saying is that as cycling is growing in popularity so is the engineering behind it.
