I've covered a few classes in Birmingham - Bannatyne, Fitness First and Virgin, and they all wanted happy clappy "lets pedal to the beat" bollocks. You're not missing out on anything at those kind of clubs.
Tiverton Road sessions have had good reviews from Perks and a few of the boys we ride with, so i'd like to try one of the sessions out and have a sweat-off..... -

I go in the winter to Tiverton baths,Keith is a mad triathlete and the best instructor ive had which imho makes all the difference
Its nice in a grungy type of way but very cheap.ps Pista is probably very good as well :)
ps x 2 check the class times now its summer as I think they may have changed or even stopped.

You must be mad to want to cycle indoors at this time of year. Unless you've recently been scared off your bike by a road incident, in which case I understand. It's why I still use a turbo trainer occasionally. Can't be arsed with feeling like I'm within an inch of losing my life every time I want to ride...

Indeed youd be mad.
I have membership to council gym's so can get the classes for free. Went to some a couple years back for giggles (during snowy weather), the instructors are nice enough guys but not really cyclists. Its just like a well cheesy aerobics class to high energy dance etc..
I think one of the instructors at billesley tennis centre is a proper roadie cyclist which might make it feel more "authentic".
Chamberlain sports centre has the most modern/best quality bikes. When you turn resistance up it actually feels like higher gears/uphill instead of those horrid belt resisted jobs.

the billesley tennis centre are mainly BRATS members and it is also a good place to spin
Spinning is brilliant for a quick upper level work out and gets you fit very quickly -

There is a reason why I want to spin actually. I'm doing loads of outdoor rides too but want to vary my training, especially with resistance.
Tivertons not too far but I work Thursdays. Grrrr. Billesley I've been to before and seems good but I'm worried about bumping into fellow bikeability instructors there! If I could swim, I'd seriously join BRAT, I love long distance running and they leave from my work.

Try chamberlain then, its in the most pleasant envirmonment. Nice big bright room, brand new flashy bikes, windows, not too crowded etc...

That's what hills/high gears are for!If I could swim, I'd seriously join BRAT, I love long distance running and they leave from my work.
In the same way as you can join a cycle club and not have to race or go on any club rides...As far as I know you don't have to run or swim to join BRAT, you can just join as a cyclist and go to the bike sessions. I don't think they have any rules forcing you to attend any sessions, as long as you have paid your membership fee you can attend whatever you want. -

+1 million, even on rollers training indoors sucks your soul. I do it during the winter when's there's ice/snow on the ground and I'm training for racing, otherwise no thanks.
Most exerice bikes in gyms are mostly rubbish too - big sofa saddles that rub the back of your legs and pedals that you can't secure yourself in properly

Riding up Rose Hill 2-3 times a week is doing wonders for me
Does anyone go? Where in Birmingham/when/what time and is it any good?
I only know of one but my boss at the council always goes and I'd rather die in front of people I don't know/feel more comfortable with!
