  • 180km on the Pro VO2 Longest Day sportive in the Chilterns last Sunday. 8 hrs 13 mins. No punctures. This was my first century ride. Might well pick a flatter one next time. Here's the route below. Incidentally, I raised £1,505 for our school swimming pool repairs. Here is my giving page:

  • will anyone call the police if I turn up at the start with you?

I won't. You'll have to be my domestique though.

  • Anyone at the chiltern100 5th June?

    http://www.chiltern-hundred.org.uk/

  • Nope, but it's a nice ride. My stomping ground.

  • Yeah, done this one a few times and always enjoyed it.

A few of the climbs are tough but I will be riding fixed again this year.

  • I was thinking of doing the Dragon Ride that weekend, but the Chiltern 100 is closer to home. The 75-mile Medio Fondo with 1750m of climbing looks stern enough to me. Mmm let me think...

  • I'm riding the Etape Caledonia for Macmillan on Sunday....

All the spiel is at http://www.justgiving.com/jamesgreig if you'd care to donate some pennies to a good cause.

First time I've entered an organised event :)

  • Looks like this year's Little Lumpy might be a little damp too :(

Paid my £20 today. It's a week after the Trionium Picnic, so my legs might find things a little bit interesting...

  • It's a good little event that.

  • ooh didn't know that was open already. the year's flying by now. it was a properly fun run last year.

  • that was great

  • Looks like this year's Little Lumpy might be a little damp too :(
Lookin ok at this point. I'll be on the 8am from Waterloo.

Heads up for anyone wanting to do the tour of britain charity rides, the early-bird pricing expires on Monday.

  • ^only 131 on board for the epic, should be a quiet one. I'm driving down with Nick, aiming for an 0830 arrival.

  • Cool cool. I'm doing the 65 miler with some slower folk on this one.

  • Did the Little Lumpy 65 miler today too. Was a good route but some of the signposting was quite dodgy, I heard of lots of people getting lost - I took a wrong turn myself but realised pretty quickly. Squeezed in under the Gold time at 3hrs57 (Garmin says 3hrs46) with an average of 17.3, pretty pleased with that.

  • I heard someone giving the cake lady a hard time at the first stop because they got lost, wtf? We didn't have any trouble but it would have been nice to have some unambiguous THIS WAY HOME signs for the return leg. The course crosses over quite a bit and if you weren't paying attention you might go off for some repeat laps.

Really nice route. Good quality roads, good climbs and beaut scenery.

  • I punctured at 30 miles, bonked at 40, thought 'fuck it' and crawled back to base. Not a good day. Average of 15mph or something woeful, mileage approx 55. Have retreated to my parents' for a refuel roast.

  • 15 mph, join the club ;)

Bad luck dude. It's those Conti tyres...

  • Excellent cake selection at the feed stops mind. And sandwiches. And everything else.

  • Are you still using Contis? #fail :)

  • Cake. Scary wilderness.

  • same pair! first puncture since last time! (maybe)

wasn't a pop though, more an incredibly slow one. I've been owed a puncture for a while, glad it came along while I was having a crap day really.
