btw, my understanding is he's getting rid of the stuff, which he has more of - DA10 for instance
plus those framesets, which, when built up, you lot used to hate and put into anti- all the time

Well he's a quitter. Build them up better. Or say bollocks to it, I love my bike... Either way just bloody ride them. Taking NOS hetchins lugs and then not riding them is criminal.
I can see the point of keeping a special vintage bike on the mantle piece. Something you don't want to degrade any further than time has already. Something that already was ridden and loved. Or a bike company wanting a museum piece so future generations can see it in it's glory.
But creating a new bike for yourself and not riding it? Taking all that hand crafted high performance steel and just looking at it? Utter waste. Actually it does make sense of his silly design choices. If you've got no intention of riding it then you don't have to consider and performance issues.
