  • Feet at level in the cranks, dominant foot forward, front wheel turned towards that foot. see if you can find a slight camber to practise against, and resist against it. Gentle rocking back and forth, and you should nail it.

    Don't worry about falling over, if you feel you are losing it, just pedal forwards and roll out of it slowly, then put you foot down.

    Practise every time you stop! Every red light, whenever you get to your destination, every time! Though made sure you've got enough space to roll forward safely. This is important. I don't want you to die.

    It won't take long. It's one of those things that you'll keep trying for ages, then all of a sudden it'll click. Don't give up! It's worth learning, it'll make you a stronger rider, and there is a great joy of being able to cycle your whole journey without putting your foot down.

    Couple of last tips I've remembered, standing up in the saddle makes it easier, and some people find that one of your knees touching the top tube helps (extra point of contact or summat).
