Many of the the royal palaces are already open to tourists, and are already really expensive.
The Tower of London,
Buckingham Palace,
Sandringham,
Windsor Castle, etc.
Getting rid of the royal family would make tourists less likely to want to visit them, not more.

PWC tried to do something over the wedding and the British Tourist Authority have produced figures generally - both are flawed. Royalists often cite the economic argument, usually hunch/hearsay/anecdotal. I'm not aware of any reliable study into it - I doubt it's even possible - maybe you are.
