Man cave

  • Man cave almost complete...

All I need now is a wheel truing stand and some other bits and bobs :)

  • nice. where'd you get the pegboard?

what wheel truing stand you getting?

I ordered ts2 from singletrack cycles but radiosilence since, not impressed... shouting starts tomorrow I reckon! best avoided.

  • Looks good mate, What brand of bike tools do you use?

  • It's a B&Q plastic pegboard kit my folks bought for me a while back. I think my dad picked it up at one of the local carboot sales! Not sure on truing stand. There was a decent bike shop spec one on ebay the other night which I missed. It went for over £100 though, which is over budget :/

Tools wise, I go with what I've got! Park Tools if I can afford them, but I tend to go with what my wallet allows :)

The whole bench is made out of decking planks. It's designed to fold down (after removing the front kick board - 6 screws) to get it out of the way of putting a car in the garage. As I don't own a car (or particularly want one) that's no issue, but as it's a rented garage I thought it best to build it like this, so the next person renting this place doesn't just rip it out!

Now all I need is one of these:

  • Maybe I'll get a couple shots of my man cave for Shits and giggles.

  • fold down is great, if you move could you take it with you?

update... stb have shipped truing stand, so maybe just delayed by easter (I think they only ship web orders once week)

I've looked at the minoura and cheaper park stand close up, they have "limiting" features that I think I'll find annoying compared to the TS2 which I used on my course at the Bike Foundry, so my tuppence would be to stretch that budget if you can...

edit - unless you can be lucky enough to find one of the antique cast iron antique ones of course - one was posted in a thread on here a while back and looked amazing.

  • This is the one I was watching -

Went for a good price, but can't afford that this month, I have other priorities :) (wheelset and cranks just arrived!)

  • What wheels and cranks did you get?

  • i think this - http://www.newel.com/PreviewImage.aspx?ItemID=6638 - would make your cave complete :)

  • I dunno hwo you're set up for general tools but halfords professional (?I think 150 piece) kit for anywhere between £80 - £120 if bloody spot on with a good range of sockets (including imperial). I have no idea what I did before I had mine, which i've now had 2 years and all my friends now have one too, yay it's like really masculine matching handbags :)

Perfect for your man cave and you could have a keyboard tray style shelf for it under the desk which slides out so you could stash it under neath and then pull it out and flip it open next to you... awesomes!

  • Nice :) Looks good! I'm not doing too bad for sockets, though ring spanners are pretty damned useful.

I like the idea of the keyboard tray/shelf idea! Might think about that one...
