So you want someone to buy a set of wheels on eBay for 375GN, then you go and collect them?
Ummmmmm.

or Rawrrr turns out to be the seller...

Honest.. Nothing complicated! Very strange request I know.. But really want to cheer daddy up :)

You will have to come up with a bit more than "my bank account is fucked" if you want people to be sure they will get their money back. Not saying I don't trust you - though why should I? - but your OP is short of the kind of detail anyone would need before they would feel able to help you.

My bank account is fucked also.
-

I have the cash and definitely be able to pay back as soon as they arrive. Otherwise I wouldn't have this little strange request! I do understand that I don't really know you all really.. So fair enough I suppose.

Dont you have any friends or family you can ask? A workmate? An uncle? A friends dad?
-
• #9
You'd have to give whoever buys the wheels the money first, so they can pay for them with your cash, not their own.
-

^This. If you have the cash you have to give it to the buyer first so you take the risk, not them.

All my friends (my own age) don't seem to have the money. Whaddya know, teenagers spending their cash on booze clothes etc..
Good point Chris.. Shouldve said that earlier, I'll offer to give the cash over first.
But having a think about it, this does seem a bit unnecessary now, seeing the initial reactions. Just didn't want to miss out on a decent deal, so posted this without that much thought beforehand.
Maybe I'll just fork out the extra cash and get it at the LBS instead.. -

I sent you a message offering to help but got no reply.

I can vouch for Chris

Why not make the guy an offer, and use the saving plus the saved postage to get a nice cheap young persons day return, or even mega bus and pay in cash?*
*This obviously won't help if your trying to scam some cash from people. Alternatively wire the cash to my Nigerian bank account and i'll go and get them for you and even wrap them up for your dad?

This reeks of the 5th floor. Watch your backs.

Ohhh NOOO! I'm not Russel! I commented on a thread of his saying we had similar usernames.. a couple weeks later that incident happened.
But thanks anyway. -

Just decided: Pop into LBS and get them myself when dad pops out, since I have the cash, rather than rely on someone else. Don't think it seems that fair on you guys.
But anyway thanks guys for all help/ suggestions, have a lovely day - it's sunny here in London! -

come on chaps...lets not be so cynical....i would offer to help but my bank account is not in the best of health either....so...if you put the money in my account....i will buy you the wheels...and if you pay me the money...i would deliver them to you in London...or you could collect them from me in Cambridge...i can't be pharoah than that.....send me a pm if you want me to help you....there my good deed for the day....anybody want a baby rabbit?.....Sans £..yes...free...a bogof....have two for free!

Thanks M_f for your good deeds! Already made mind up.. don't really think it's worth the hassle. The LBS is only a 10 min ride away.

Yeah...know what it is like to be up a shit creek sans paddle....many a time.....LBS...might be a bit more expensive but i'm not sure i would buy £375 wheels from ebay.....so, i think you are doing the right thing...hope you make your dad very happy...which you will...in more ways than you may ever know....but he will...believe me!...good luck to the pair of you!

this bastard! this is russell!
you thieving cunt, i bought the wheels and you said you'd paypal me the money!!!!
Hi LFGSS,
It's coming up to my daddy's birthday. Him being a cycling freak, a bit like me, I thought I'd give him a pleasant surprise by getting a new pair of wheels for his road bike to set him up for cycling in the Alps in the summer avec moi.
The prrroooblem is.. that my bank account is f**ked at the moment, and also wouldn't like to get wheels posted to home - he'd find out! Mother is away at the moment too dammittt! All sounds very coincidential I know!
Is anyone, based in London, willing to lend a hand in buying these wheels for me and buy these wheels pour moi, and I'll collect them?
Rewards in hugs, chocolates, coffee, beers (although I'm underage..), bike bits..money.. etc!
Hopefully someone can help before someone else snaps them up:
