  • Two fellas, Mike and Tom(?), outside the Basketmakers talking about their bikes. I ran up and blurted loads of information at them, let's see if they find us on here :)

Hi, I'm Steve (not Mike!) I've been meaning to head down to Preston Park to see what the polo is all about but I've been busy the last few weeks, so I'll probably check it out this week. Does anyone have any advice? - I can't get my cranks to stay tight, I've tried using loctite and a massive hammer on the allen key to gain a mighty grip but after about a week of skidding around brighton my left crank always comes slightly loose! It's doing me head in!!

What cranks are they? If they have allen key bolts I'm guessing they're relatively modern.

try taking the whole arm off and inspecting how square the hole is which the BB goes through. As Jack says, this may have become rounded over time and it may need replacing. At least it's only the left arm. Also make sure your right crank is tightened sufficiently, all LBS and Cranks have tools which have the allen key for crank bolts on a longer handle allowing for greater torque.
