  • don't do it. seems like a good idea at first. then you start seeing it whenever you look at the bike and it annoys you. shit doesn't come off.

well that means it works! if i don't like it i can just pull it off...

  • Were you riding this at the marathon on Sunday?

    nope?

    Do it.

    Do it.

  • it peels off in minuscule slivers that get stuck in your nails. Then you give up after literally 5 minutes of just trying to get a piece that doesn't rip.

  • I have just done something similar and am finding it very hard to identify whether it really is a Super or not... tips on identifying Colnagos welcome.

A bit of a dredge, but if you're still interested...

Scoble was right, it is early eighties. 1982 to be exact. It took me a little while to find information since Colnago dating is an inexact science (and because I am obsessive and therefore I was obsessively looking down the wrong avenues) but there's a list for dating Supers.

If it's not a Super, then I'm not sure where to look, but there are some catalogues here which may be of help to you. The one in the directory labelled simply 'colnago' is from 1982, based on the Super frameset shown and the above list (cable guides underneath bottom bracket and flat fork crown). There are also a few other catalogues kicking around the internet that should turn up with a bit of Google.

Once you've nailed down the model and an approximate age range, search for it individually by year and see what turns up. Brute force sometimes works!

    Good luck.

  • That rear wheel and seat/chainstay area looks odd? Why the HUUUUUGE gap!?

I can see room in the drop outs to move forward...

actually. it's funny - with the wheel slammed all the way in the droupouts i could still clear like 3 or 4 fingers between the tire and the seattube. i guess rychtarski was not that good anyway...

    .

  • Just remembered I haven't put my girlfriend's Caprice up

Upgraded with alu wheelset, plastic mudguards and dual-pivot brakes and BMX levers - otherwise original. Powdercoated in RAL6019 with the rack and chainguard powdercoated white. I bought it for her three years ago and have slowly restored it. Apologies for non-driveside pic and dirty bike.

  • finally done, spend the afternoon drilling out chainring bolts

got honey bar tape as girlfriend wants it on her bike, with new matching saddle. I show her my new shiny bike and she says, 'you know what, i think i want the darker bartape, same colour as your saddle'

    le sigh

  • hehe

  • is she aware of the financial implications of her "swift" decisionmaking?

  • is she aware of the financial implications of her "swift" decisionmaking?

Surprised he didn't go off the "rails"

  • Awful^

  • terrible. I cant handle it....bar the puns.....

  • is she aware of the financial implications of her "swift" decisionmaking?

i think i'll just happen to buy her a honey saddle anyway so at least her bike is matching, would be ridiculous to have 2 mis-matching bikes

  • double posted

sounds like a challenge, but i don't plan on taking it off any time soon

as long as its not in my direct view when I'm riding it I'm sure it wont bother me

  • working on a bike for my girlfriends sister at the moment, may as well post it here

after some cleaning getting it to bling bling

  • aren't those v brake levers?

  • Now that you've made the bike look worse, what are you plans for it? :P
If you don't want drops put some swept back bars on it, the straight bars and v brake levers look bad.

+1 on getting some nice swept back bars.

  • Yeah, nicer bars are needed. Maybe north road? Flipped north road? With some leather or cork grips, not those chunky MTB ones.

    Make that +2
