wow, random to stumble across an old posting of mine coming back to life...
Interested to find out more about this Road Ace - FYI I have owned 20+ of this model, one of which looked like it came with Mavic G40 rims from new, these are the clincher version of GP4's and are quite hard to find... it looked to me like someone specced them from new as an upgrade from their local bike shop.
On the Campag drop outs, I have seen this before too on Road Ace frames (which should have Gipiemme road ends) - Raleigh made lots of different frames out of 531c tubing all to the same spec and at the last moment defined the model with the correct braze ons and paint etc so from what I can gather if there were a bunch of frames with Campag drop outs ready to go, they got painted as Road Aces and sent off...
PM me if you want more idle Road Ace blurb, but yeah cool bike IMO.
