Does the frame have a mount on the bottom bracket for one of these?:

No it doesn't.
Just to be clear that bolts on the underside of the BB, making the gear cables run underneth the bike?
On mine, the cable guide for the rear mech is a braze-on which sits above the BB on the drive side of the seat tube. But there is nothing for a front mech.

Yes
I've seen frames with the braze-on you describe for both front and rear mechs (attached to the top of the BB shell). Why is there no braze on for a front mech (is it a very old frame?)
Would this work?

You cable guide/stopper has a stopper for a piece of outer casing that goes from this bolt-on part to the front mech. The front mech should have a stopper as well. Several older type front mechs do.
Of course, you can try to find/buy a bolt-on cable guide for front and rear mech (the most usual model, used on almost all geared road bikes till late 1970's.
Suntour, Shimano, Campagnolo, etc...But you can also drill a small hole in the BB-shell (bottom) and cut M5 thread. Then use a part as suggested by Pifko. Then, the cable runs underneath the BB-shell.
It's your own decision if the cable for the rear mech will be routed over the BB-shell or if it will go below the shell also. Of course, this is only possible if there is no braze-on cable stopper on the RH chain stay. -

SJSCycles sell those.

a small peice of clear plastic tubing might due the trick. We used this on the Meesuw bikes to keep the cable from eating the carbon fibre.

Thanks for all the info.
Yes its an old frame. Originaly with only rear derailer. The cable is meant to go on the top of the chain stay so I think Pifko's part is out... although the tip on drilling a hole is good to remember.
Here are a couple of pix to illistrate:

/attachments/11988Dutch Cheese - thanks for the links - I prob should have searched ebay. Tried here and google, but it seems everything that guides any sort of cable is called a cable guide.
I think the 1st link is the best option, but I guess I could remove the current rear cable guide and use the campy downtube cable guide for a cleaner look... just hate filing original bits off.

You could completely use the tubing idea. You want the size that is slightly thinner than a drinking straw, and you need it to be just long enough to do the complete bend, ie half the circ. of the bb shell.

thread revival time...
So I'm about to put derailleur gears on the Geekhouse.
Same deal as hugo- no braze on on underside of BB, no hole, and no guide on back.
Whats the quickest/cheapest/simplest way of solving this problem?
or should I just run it 1x9? -

One of these, plus some glue ?

Quick question, what is the correct name for the clamp-on cable guide for a front mech?
Like the item in the very centre of this pix

My bike has no braze on to feed the cable from the down tube shifter up into the front mech.
Also I need one, so if anyone has one pls let me know.
Thanks
