My monies on a burr in the rim, most likely around the valve hole. Check the rim throughly

Getting repeated punctures in my back wheel in different places... changed the tyre... another puncture... can't find any loose spokes... what else could it be? Rims?
Wheels are budget shimanos which take a lot of levering to get the tyres off of... tempted to get new wheels just to avoid this fight every time...

possibly installation error, if there is nothing wrong with the wheel, rim tape or tyre.

Got the same shit when put a cheap folding tyre on the rear (Dura Fixie Pop dickhead rubber). There's no way you can fit it on the rim without slashing the inner tube.
Look at different tyre - perhaps someone can lend you one to see if it makes any difference? -

Got a new Tip Top kit in the post today - and just curious...what is that little tube for?!
Have always been puzzled by it - and its not mentioned in the instructions or anything

So I got a slow puncture last night and had to pump up my bike this morning. I was out and didn't have time to repair the inner tube (also I didn't have all the tools with me). I just kept pumping it up. It lasted a couple of hours between 9am and 11am (of which 20mins were cycling). Then an hour on the train and it was totally flat. Then it lasted about 10 minutes a couple of times and then about 5 mins. Then, after lunch, I pumped it up and just tried to get to a bike shop to get some tyre levers and fix it... And it never went down. Been fine the last 12 hours. I'm home now and can fix it but i was wondering if this has ever happened to anyone? How can it be? Is it a valve problem?
Any ideas?

Could be something's poking into it and as you pumped it up again it's trapped into the hole pluggin it. Best fix it.

These used to be fairly ubiquitous on old low-quality German bikes, but I don't think they're really fitted any more. I could be wrong, though, as I try to avoid dealing with that sort of bike. Also known as "Blitzventil", or 'lightning-quick valve' in German.

They also turn up on hired MTBs in Sicily from my recent(ish) experience. I thought I'd pump up our tyres a bit before we set out in the morning and was a bit baffled by the valve system, but was rescued by one of the vineyard labourers (we were staying at a winemaking Agriturismo) who explained, as I struggled to keep up with his Italian*, that he'd been an aspiring pro rider in his teens and early twenties and had raced all over europe.
*I can understand a bit, speak almost none and Sicilian is a whole other world.

I saw a little white bit on my front tyre. Stopped to brush it off, but it had gone, so contined. 1 meter later a hole appeared where it was. First puncture in over a year, and first time iv not used conti hardhshells in a year.

Seriously WTF!
I pumped my tyres up last night took a bike i havent used much for a spin and woke up this am to the sound of the tyres defliating. That was around 6.30. Since then I've mended about 5 punctures in total on both wheels.
I'm scared to say the rear is fixed in case I jinx it. Finally had to give up on the front and just switched wheels.
All punctures have been on the inside of the tube.
At low pressure (just over 80psi) they seem to hold. Any higher they go.
Rims: mavic cxp30
Tyres: bonti hard case 25c (front) specalized armadio 28c (rear).I don't have any proper long valve inner tubes, bit have some which are just about long enough. Surely that can't be a factor(?).
What would be the ideal inner tube size for that rim/tyre combo?
Any other thoughts?

check rimtape is covering all drillings in your rim-sharp edge and a little escape hatch and your tube will blast a hole in itself there

Cheers... I had thought about that.
The first set of punctures I had it definitely looked like it was misaligned rim tape, but I was sure I re-adjusted it.
Fuck it, I'll just replace the rim tape. Better safe than sorry.
Any other tips?

I bought a folder from Germany fitted with those old school valves (Chinese made).
All my bikes when I was a child had inner tubes with those - you'd have to change the rubber inside the valve on a regular basis. We used to buy a paper bags full of the rubber inserts from tyre repair shops.
Also baby strollers often use Dunlop valves - especially if of oriental origin. -

One.
That tiny curly bit is a metal shaving.
Put the tyre next to the radiator and the rim outside for an hour.
Expansion/Contraction ftw.
And yes, talc.
It also makes my botty lovely and silky smooth after a bath.
