Friday 13th May 2011 - BourneRidentity

Some mates and I are riding from Bourne End in Berkshire (just outside Maidenehad on the Paddington line) to Bournemouth Pier for a dip in the sea over night.

Its long and has some fair hills in the middle and still sorting somewhere to refuel in the middle so we may have to do old school panniers and picnic in the new forest somewhere.

Did this in October and follows much of the 100club route, but it was bloody cold so we are going to repeat in may when the sea should be welcoming for a dip and a portion of chips on the seaside.

Nice idea. I suspect that the sea will still be ever so slightly too cold for a dip in May, but each to their own. :)

Strictly speaking, of course, it would be more logical to ride from Bournemouth to Bourne End, but hey, what's logical these days. :)

Ha, cold sea but not as cold as the north sea in July! (dunwich). mind you, at bournemouth there's no nuclear reactor down the beach to warm up the sea, so maybe it will be as cold.

That direction is almost always into the wind too. Sasmon and I did London to Lymington this year into a near constant, strong headwind. It blew.

May ride back on the sunday after a night out in local pub from outlaws house, depends on pass.
