Are these not the same bike?
No as the one I saw was probably a unicreatedirect. It was literally pink frame and white wheeled not the one posted by wingedangel.
Am relatively green to all the terminology of which parts are called what so named the obvious parts.

Just had my pride and joy stolen.
Locked to a bike stand in Vestry St (just up from Old St roundabout) between 1845 and 2050 tonight (wed 13th). Locked with a Kryptonite mini-u lock and a heavy Abus cable.
It's pretty recognisable (if it hasn't already been stripped down):Metallic maroon Condor custom 631 fixed frame - lugged with ahead headset, straight steel forks
CXP33 rims on Phil Wood hubs, Conti GP4000S tyres
Nitto bullhorn bars with black fizik tape
Deda Newton stem
Dura-ace front brake with goldfinger lever.
Rolls saddle on Condor carbon post
Chris King headset - barberspole (alternating silver and black) headset spacers.
New Izumi gold chainAll pretty nice and pretty much my perfect bike!
Picture below with different bars and saddle:
Please keep your eyes open...I'll be down at Brick Lane on Sunday morning!

This has got me extremely angry. Steve is the one member of this forum that has actually helped me out in real life - coming to my rescue in southern Catford with his cycle pump, maybe a couple of years ago. What Steve hasn't said is that its a totally bespoke bike, fitted and made just for him. I'm gutted about this. Steve if I see it, you will definitely get it back.

Such a beautiful bike, Steve. Hope you get it back!
The Le Beau Vélo break-in sounds pretty shocking.
I doubt many people could have got as far as Hammersmith from Hackney Wick on Wingedangel's brakless single-speed. It's probably not that far away.

I think the same bunch of kids have been mentioned before but they seem to be getting braver (whilst school hols are out mebbe?)
My office is on Russell Square proper but we've got an area at the front of the building that is accessible only by a locked gate...like a front paved garden. About a month ago, someone had their bike nicked by some kids jumping over the gate or fence. It's got to be a good 6 or 7ft as the drop on one side is way lower than the pavement. Admittedly the person concerned had locked a shiny new hybrid to a bike stand through the quick release wheel only, but still, it got nicked in the middle of the day, and the bike/kids would have had to climb over the fence/gate.
Apparently today, the same bunch of kids were caught inside the gated area, trying to nick bikes, and were hounded off. Later, as someone tried to leave work, one of the kids tried to wrestle his bike off him, and when they couldn't get that, they grabbed the key to the gate out of his hand! The lock on the gate is going to be changed tomorrow, but really, it's all a bit brazen, in the day light, in a busy spot!
There's a well nice Felt (poss a TK2?) track bike and a new-ish Cinelli (have been wondering if owners are on here?) locked up outside the office on a fairly regular basis that I fear for. And other people's bike's obvs! I've spotted the same bunch of boys eyeing up bikes outside Birkbeck around the corner from my office. Little swines.
Apols for lengthy post - to summarise, Russell Square-ites, watch out!

I'd mention that to the cycle task force. Sounds like a doddle of a sting for them

Helpful, ta! Didn't realise the cycle task force was a London wide outfit. Our office/building comes under the University of London, so will deffo pass the details onto the guy charged with security, especially since I think it's the same lot of teenage scrotes I've spotted eyeing up bikes outside Birdbeck and no doubt ULU. If he doesn't want to do anything about it, I'll get in touch with them myself I reckon.
The main security/recpetion guy at my building was all l "if I catch them and I'm out of camera shot I'll give them what for" which as much as I love my bike and hate bike thieves, he'd end up in way more grief than the kids nicking them, eh?

Anyone lost a Brompton? £65! looks sketchy to me.

my feeling is that the most private security can do is put them off until they move on. real police might have a better chance of 'disuading' them altogether, although if they're just kids, and brazen ones at that, they probably reckon themselves a little untouchable...

Hey just had an update as I was speaking to a girl today that has seen a load of bike in the travelers site in the wick...
It's on the mini island as you go up rothbury road toward stratford, she had seen them on the train (overground) coming back from dalston, if you have had a bike nicked around the vicky park area in the last month or so I think it would be worth going on ravvelthe train to have a look in the yard...it isn't the gypsies that live in the prefab compound, these are the crackhead traveller types (dog on string, paraboots) they have taken up residence in what used to be the refuse lorry yard that is on the left hand side of the track as you are travelling toawrds the wick from dalston...it makes perfect sense why the dickhead that stole my bike disappeared into thin air when i chased him down...
I was literally 60 yards behind him and as I turned the corner ...he was gone...I couldn't work out how the fuck a guy on a freewheel track bike with no brakes had lost me...I was totally gobsmacked and had no idea where the fuck he had got to in such a short space of time...ie 20-30 seconds...
I am going to have a reccy tomorrow afternoon...If i can get it back, it would be ace as I can still give the girl her bike as promised on sunday...
keep your eyes peeled people it seems to be getting really bad lately, the audacity of the guy to nick the bike in the way he did was a total pisstake (he had claimed the van outside the shop was his) and as it had no brakes i really didn't expect him to ride off...before the penny dropped that he wasn't turning round within a respectable 'test drive' distance, I jumped on my bike and flew after him...I was maybe 40 metres behind him...and as i turned the corner, he was just fucking gone...absolutely nowhere to be seen, if he had ridden straight into the travellers yard it would explain everything...
i'll keep you posted wish me luck!!

Hi,
First post, so no know if this is the right bit of the forum for this, if you're an admin pls move to wherever's best.
Anyway, on way home through Euston back streets last night, 12:45ish, what do we chance upon? Three boys lifting a bike (unidentified - white-framed, new-ish road bike, geared, possibly a Giant, with helmet strapped to the frame, parked on Euston street near the Bree Louise) up and over the post it was locked to, ie nicking it. We called the police, who turned up swiftly, hunted about a bit and went and actually caught them. Amazing, I know.
We spoke to the Police to tell 'em what we saw, and saw that they'd collared two of the scamps and at least two bikes. One being the afore-mentioned white-framed bike, the other clearly a Langster (one of the older green and white-framed ones). So if you came to Euston Street this morning and are wondering with heavy-heart where your bike is, speak to Holborn police station, they may well have it. Hope this helps someone.

They have made up their own address, it's number 15 in big red letters on a metal fence. Good luck trying to get into there, I saw what looked like a Council employee trying to gain access to no avail.
By the way, my friend lives across the street from there and can see into the yard somewhat, so I've told her to keep her eyes peeled.

i've just had a quick browse on gumtree (looking for roadbike bargains) and it seems to be awash with pretty obviously stolen bikes being mis-sold by the barely literate. my favourite as this morning featured "shamarno parts and crabon falks".
it's been a while since i used gumtree but i don't think i could buy anything off there now with a clean conscience. was it always like this?
the alarm bells for me are, anything over a hundred quid but being offered well under market value with incorrect description or spec and only a mobile number as a contact. pretty much anything on there that caught my attention fitted this description. i feel dirty just from browsing!
yea probably the same bike, cause they probably couldnt ride a freewheel without brakes !
