Plus it seems bizzare to have to pay vat on foreign postage! that can't be right?
The "value" of imported goods is the total cost of obtaining the goods in the destination country, so that includes shipping and handling. If you pay a UK carrier to go and pick it up from the foreign factory, you pay VAT on the carrier's charge, so why not on the p&p charge levied by the foreign seller to do the shipping for you?
