I set mine up for road and it was fine. I didn't use the scissor fork though and went for another Charge fork (can't remember the model name). I used 35c Ribmos on it so not exactly skinny road tyres.
Road and handled very nicely but having had a few Steamrollers I would also go for that option if the price is anything close.
