BTW Andy. I decided to sort out my indexing this morning, after admitting I was exactly one cassette sprocket out. In reply to your query. Turns out my cable ferrel had siezed to the adjuster, and the adjuster had unscrewed from the frame. Seems my comment had annoyed the bike gods. Spent a frustrating 30mins sorting it out this morning and arrived for work late and greasy.
I blame you completly for this........

The BMC is my biast opinion.
The real answer is whichever fits and rides how you'd like it to.
Another Alu/crabon option but with SRAM
http://www.rutlandcycling.com/31278/Giant-TCR-Alliance-2010---Road-Bike.htmlor the carbon version with 105.

Tis a good question.
Those Giants I linked are racers more than cruisers.

Not really much of a plan or source-

Then work out how to get it here....(this is in like-3 months though)

been riding one of these recently, it was fine over flanders cobbles and an ideal bike for those without a fat gut who don't want a sit up and beg style 'sportive' bike (once you ditch the spacers)
the only thing wrong with it is the saddle which is crap and should be swapped for your favorite perch. nice and stable and those wheels hold their speed but are not significantly heavy to feel them when climbing, it's racey stiff around the bb and the fork is good too.
9/10 (dropped one point for saddle and white finish on seatpost) -

Was it laterally stiff whilst being vertically compliant?
New Fork Purchased, barrell adjustern removed and new ones fitted.
Nearly there.
