Photoshoot at Herne Hill - Sunday 17-4-11

Posted on
  • A friend of mine has secured the Velodrome for a few hours on Sunday the 17/4/11 (JC to confirm?) for a photoshoot and would like to get some riders down there to make things more interesting. I'm not sure on the times yet, but it probably means just hanging around for a bit after Sunday training.

She's one of the many groups of people who've been waving cameras around at the track of late; some of you may have seen her and her media minions around doing some filming on the first Saturday this year, or at the evening turbo sessions (and I think they're coming to the Good Friday open day too) - they're making a short documentary about the velodrome and the community around it. It's a small labour-of-love project, they're not getting anything out of it (and they're investing a load of time and effort) so I can't promise you fame and fortune, but it's a nice opportunity to get your mugs and shiny bikes recorded for posterity/internet glory.

    Anyone interested?

  • Fancy dress?

  • Always with the furry suits.

  • Could this be potentially [ab]used as an opportunity for some uncoached TP drilling?

How many hours has your friend booked the track for?

  • This is very, very unlikely as the track will be busy all day due to sunday training and the spring omnium to follow.

+no such thing as uncoached riding at any time. There will always be someone to supervise.

  • No idea regarding duration, but: "the 17th is confirmed, in-between advance training and the races so bring shiny bikes and smiley riders".
    Whatever that means.

  • Just seen the email about this. JC reckons that there is an hour to squeeze it in 12-1pm, though its likely to be more like 12-12.45pm. Think they'll probably be trying to film the end of the advanced training + the start of the racing as well. Riders still needed i'd imagine

  • ^This sounds more factual. All I have to go on is facebook banter.

  • Sorry, I've been really busy and have let this slip. Basically it should all work out. I figure that we'll adapt the session plan for that week a little to fit in with the type of footage the guys want to film. This shouldn't be any hinderance on the session, it will just influence the content (eg we will definately have some team pursuit training that day, which ties in well with some riders preparation for the Good Friday showcase. Hopfully some people will be prepared to stay on a little later (or turn up early for the racing due to start at 1.30) so we can get any extra specific footage needed. Though I'd imagine between a tailored training session, and subsequent racing, there should be a lot of good stuff to film.

For those interested, the people doing the filming have been following the tracks recent "story", but have been very supportive and keen to show what actually happens at the track, rather than focusing on the political to-ing and fro-ing, so I'm happy this is a project of benefit to the track. Hopefully we'll be able to see the fruits of their work soon.

  • bumpety bump.
being pestered to see if anyone is actually interested in this so they have an idea of numbers.

  • I would be up for it for sure.
