what a day for a ride. and what a ride.
awesome route sam, big thanks for putting this ride together and leading with good humour and panache. leading is a funny word as i can picture 6pt and Friday pulling off the front all day.
but that was an excellent day in the saddle. will do that route again for sure.
cheers to lucas for leading us to a bike friendly pub in bournemouth (the goat and tricycle) for a well deserved pint.
knackered now. will sleep like a baby pony
It is a pity that I took you guys the long way ... remembered the short cut on the way home ... DOH!

dropped like a hot potato on the hills.
That is true but not exactly true. You beat me on that last one in the New Forrest when we were racing up it.

Loved it (even when it hurt). Thanks for putting in the hard work Sam - legend. Forget about the tube I have loads of spares from evans half price deal.
Massive thanks to the fixed guys L, J & J for towing me most of the way and especially the last 30 miles!
I'll upload a few pics later. Now: pancakes.

Beautiful day to be on a bike... thanks for the company, chaps. Effortless pace-work by the Garminators up-front. Quite welcome as it afforded me more drafting and less navigating!
High-Point: Ice cream pit-stop in the New Forest.
Low point: Turning a corner and discovering that my sudden Cavendish-esque pace was not due to the ice cream, but rather a massive tail-wind :(

well done people! nice work Sam

Awesome day Sam, thank you very much! Was good to meet all you guys, thanks for being so accommodating!

Yeah... big thanks to Sam for putting this one together. It was an absolute killer route(in the good sense) and in that weather, showing off that part of the world rather nicely. Many of those stretches were worthy of the BTOTY and should be ridden again. Great group of riders, even if the pace was a little pacey due to the pacey nature of most of those steeds ; )
Thanks to Lucas for the kind of pub you crave at the end of a century ride... bike space, food and G all delivered with the minimum of fuss. And then directions to the station afterwards... Flawless.
Nice pix Yemble, and well done. Few more of those and Wales will be just fine.Does my membership get me in anywhere Sam, and do you usually post the cards ? ; )

is anybody able to confirm that we passed a fair sized bunch of the Rapha Condor team coming the other way in the New Forest?
-
• #119
definitely. they were quite friendly too i got a couple of nods/waves. unlike most of the wannabe roadies who are stuck up there own arses.

• #120
let it joe, let it out.

I have to disagree with smiff. I gave a thumbs up and a cheery cockney 'ello and all i got in reply was a a stony-faced woosh.
-
• #122
nice but pacey

Yemble's pics look glorious - lovely lanes, ice-cream vans and beach!
Did you do the route as posted on the first page then? Look like a couple of mean hills... -

Need to do this next time for sure ... My knee is alright and I know I can ride on the front again for a while.
sam's unflagging cheer made this for me, cheers for putting it all together. the route was consistently excellent, a good days riding there.
(wish I'd taken my gloves off at some stage today, pale hands and a defined line at the wrist)
