I might do it geared as my ankle is messed again

By the 8th Xander will have died of malnutrition because "he doesn't like to eat while he rides", Sumo's bespoke SPDs will have fallen apart and I'll be lost somewhere in the German wilderness.

Shit, I fancy this but don't want to be the only tosser there on a geared bike. Fuck you, massive unfitness level! I'd die on an SS.
Then bring gears. Simples.

Just for a bit of fun last summer I did London to Brighton twice in a week on a 44:18 single speed Surly Streamroller. Yes had to stop 6 times on Ditchling Beacon (no pushing though) but got up Turners Hill and the complete head spin hill at Church Hill near Merstham. Probably a good way to knacker your knees for life! Thought my thighs were going to explode. Think I was riding with my nose virtually on the front wheel. Left SW18 at 5am and the ride was beautiful and quiet as I was on my own. I knew doing it would make me get a road bike (got a felt z85, sorry fixies) but I still enjoy Ricmond Park and it's hills with a fixed 48:17 gear. 44:18 was a bit of a chore on the long flat sections but got me there in the end. Enjoy the ride

Almost certainly up for this. Will be my first forum ride and will definitely be running fixed. Am spinning 48:18 at the mo, but am thinking 48:19 might help my knee on the hills. Looking forward to it.

Hi, im new to this forum and I was just wondering can anyone at any age join this ride?
i say this from a position of no authority, i'm not organising this, i'm just going along, but probabaly yeah. if you're capable of riding 60miles i guess you're not* very* young.
but noone is going to take legal responsibility for you and we won't have group insurance or anything like that. we would look after you in the case of accident but that's just cause we're sound people.
someone more official than me should prolly answer
I will be geared and there is another person on the list* with geared next to their name.
*too lazy to look back a page at who it is
