was down at aldi getting some meat & processed cheeses (nom nom nom) and a young guy pulls up on a recent high end trek. Cable lock thru the trolley rack and then round just one fork leg.
In the que at the till I pointed it out to him, he didn't understand, and seemed offended at why I was looking at how to steal his bike. Walking out I held back then offered to show him, by this stage I couldn't tell if he was pissed off or intrigued. Anyways, upto the bike, front wheel off, didn't even need to flick off brakes, slide the lock off, wheel back on.
Apparently thats how he's always locked his bike up, this one and previous and never had a problem. Thats pretty much down to the fact this is a rural area and if anything gets nicked its almost sure to be liverpool/manc'land who come up for a few days on burglarizing sprees.
Hopefully he paid enough attention to work out that method of locking was bad news. Didn't get any thanks though.
