• Despite the many 100s of classic albums and the many 1000s of not so classic albums that have been mixed on NS10s, eh.

The reason professionals used them is because they were the best nearfields available and were a standard across the board, the massive bottom-end wall hangers are there to impress the clients but many mix engineers do 99% of the work on the nearfields.

I would disagree. I have worked in a few pro studios with many pro engineers. Not one of them used NS10s as main nearfields. If you go into almost any pro studio they are wired in as aux, for use as a secondary nearfield monitor, and used almost exclusively to work on the mids. I do not know of a single pro engineer who would use them as main monitors or mix down lows or highs on them.

Again, this is all just based on personal experience, and I haven't done any pro audio work for over 4 years, and I don't plan on ever doing any more.

I have heard endless variations of stories as to why they are in every pro studio, but not one of them is based on them being any good.
