For sale a really rather nice classic style 1960/70s Carlton Corsa Strada road frame, with forks, headset and seatpost. Selling as I am going travelling for a while and need both the space and the cash!
I've had the frame for a while and only briefly built it up the once (Only rode the bike twice as I crashed my MTB just after and was off the bike for a while and then it came to winter so was back on the geared) after sorting a few niggles with it, I have had the BB threads chased as when I first got it I couldn't get a BB to fit, but now an english threaded BB goes in no worries. I used a simple Miche one and it worked like a dream!
The original forks have been swapped for some lovely classic style flat crown chrome ones as the previous owner tried stripping the pain but the pitting underneath was pretty bad so they have been replaced.
The original seat post binder bolt sheared, I replaced with a campag style one but its just a bit too long so it doesn't close the tube around the post enough. I did borrow an older style with the longer thread briefly and had no problems. The seat post is a new Push chrome one, scratches beneath the insertion marks but above is lovely and clean.
I have changed the bearings in the headset and now runs pretty smoothly.
Seat tube 56cm c-t-c, 57cm c-t-t
Top tube 57cm c-t-t
Rear dropout spacing 120mm (long horizontal dropouts which are perfect for a conversion fixed)
27.0 seatpost
1" threaded headset
English threaded BB shell
For 27" wheels but I ran 700cs no problem.
Has lovely original braze ons for mudguards and even an old frame pump underneath the top tube.
This frame would be a great restoration project to a classic style build, I built it up with low profile rims, chrome bars and a fixed set up and it looked rather handsome IMO. Loads of info here from a guy who rebuilt the same bike to a lovely SS.
Great as a project or a simple fixed conversion..... PRICE DROP £60
Pick up from Newington Green N1
Could possibly bring to work which is Waterloo/Southwark.
Don't really fancy posting but if it comes to it, it will be at an additional postage cost.
Dibs then PM please....
Heres a (pretty crap) photo from when I built it up.
Don't worry about formatting, just type in the text and we'll take care of making sense of it. We will auto-convert links, and if you put asterisks around words we will make them bold.
Tips:
Create headers by underlining text with ==== or ----
To *italicise* text put one asterisk each side of the word
To **bold** text put two asterisks each side of the word
Embed images by entering: ![](https://www.google.co.uk/images/srpr/logo4w.png) That's the hard one: exclamation, square brackets and then the URL to the image in brackets.
* Create lists by starting lines with asterisks
1. Create numbered lists by starting lines with a number and a dot
