Royal Enfield are from Redditch. As are Anglepoise lamps and Shakespeare fishing tackle.
No need to thank us.

Thanks for that gem of information. Now, to start hacking it apart, or preserve any value it holds.. Anyone?

I know a guy who has one as his everyday ride.
Seem to remember that you can oil the bb from inside the seatube or something like that?
Don't know anymore than that.

I owned a blue one in nice condition. And sold it in 2008 to Lazerboy from this very forum.
I love the way they ride. You feel like THE man about town.

I sold it for £90 which was not nearly enough.

I'd like my next Enfield to look more like this.

I'm working on a Royal Enfield Revelation at the moment, which is a re-badged Vindec (Brown Brothers) shopper from about 1980.
Apparently the last bikes were made in Redditch in 1963, so anything after that will be a re-badge. Yours look a bit older than mine, so could be an original RE.

the bike above looks '70s or '80s (check the date stamp on the hub shell), enfield stopped making their own cycles in the late 50s or very early 60s, i have a 1952 'Lightweight Sports' 3-speed ladies' model; i'm only the second owner and my dad remembers the original owners riding it to work in the 50s! The originals, though very chromed-up and good-looking, were very average bikes as build quality etc. is concerned (mine is made of such poor steel (it was just post-war) that the bars flex a good 6" compared to the seat tube..), the post-Redditch bikes (such as the one above) are usually better equipped and better to ride though not as pretty! keep it if it fits you!
Last year I bought this beauty. The frame itself is in amazing condition (although the chrome bits have rust spots on them).
Does anyone have any information on this bike? The wiki page etc doesn't talk about the bicycles, only motorbikes made by the same company. I'd like to know the decade it was built/what type of tubing/whether it's WORTH ANYTHING as it's not in my size (if it isn't, I reckon I'll strip it down, take the sturmey archer hub for myself and sell all the other parts off.)
