Hi Mitshel. Insurers often make offers of about £1k for injuries, plus losses on top, after an accident. This is to stop people getting proper legal advice on the value of the injury from a solicitor, as the insurers then have to pay the solicitors fees on top, and they should get you more money.
I would always advise to get a second opinion on the value of an injury from a solicitor, as they will send you for a medical report to properly assess your injuries. You don't know how long your knee is going to be bad for, so I definitely wouldn't rush into settling now - you can't go back for more money at a later stage.
£1k is about the lowest amount you will get for an injury, and is for minor cuts and bruising, or injuries lasting a couple of weeks. Knee injuries are usually valued higher, depending on how long the injury lasts for.
