650c tubular tyres

  • I'm looking for a pure black (i.e. no gumwalls) 650c tub that has a valve long enough for a deep section rim and not too expensive.. oh yeah and 22mm+ if possible, and some kind of puncture resistance.... any ideas?

  • speak to fred, he had loads from when had his corima,

  • cheers dude

  • puncture resistance 650c tubular at 22c?? blimey mate, you don't ask for much do you?

  • speak to fred, he had loads from when had his corima,

Yeah - got a Conti Sprinter off Fred for mine a while back - all black - although for very deep section rims you will probably need a valve extender.

  • tufo

  • I have a valve extender you can have if you need it (East London).

  • yep. conti sprinters, 700x22c, about £22 when they were on planetx. cheapest I can see them now is £30 - I sold about 5 earlier in the year for £10-£15 each.

PM Craignasty and see if planetx are getting any more in?

  • get some tufo extreme tape whilst you're at it

  • yep. conti sprinters, 700x22c, about £22 when they were on planetx.

    Errrr... he wants 650.

I see only tubs on there site.
'part from the TUFO SC... but 43 squid?!

  • I've just bought a classic 1970's racer with all original parts.. I'm looking for some 26 x 1 1/4 inc 597 tires (with original bronze/yellow stripe) as the tires on it are quite a bit worn. Does anyone know if 26 inc wheels are still made or where I can get some old ones?

  • Hey bro, be carefully with spamming that all over the forum, some people might get a bit spiky about it

  • I have a valve extender you can have if you need it (East London).

well yeah, I've got one for inflation - is it possible to have, like, a recessed valve then just add the extended when needs be? only the problem is I'm trying to find a black tub with a long enough valve for a zipp 400.... it's not easy.

anyone know which long-valve tubs to point me in the direction of? all in all the vittoria Corsa CX looks about right for me otherwise but I've no idea if the valve is a bad boy.

  • I read somewhere that all Vittoria tubs will come with a 60 mm valve as standard as most people using tubs are using them on deep section carbon rims.

  • that sounds hopeful.. cheers andy, I think at that price and with that puncture protection I'll plump for one of those. the stupid thing is I won't ride it much unless I start believing I'll be adept at fixing a puncture at the roadside... but to my fevered eyes it will look nice when I do.

  • Need valve extender for new Vittoria tubs. I have a 650 Continental Olympic - no good for street, but the nuts on a track - if anyone is interested pm me

  • but what I'm trying to establish is whether I can put for example a vittoria tub on this zipp and screwin the valve extender and once I've inflated it remove the extender and ride like that, with the tub valve now recessed - or whether I need to be able to see the valve..

  • from my thread a couple of weeks back I got these at the recommendation of another member:

    http://www.parker-international.co.uk/1889/Continental-Competition-Vectran-Tubular.html

650x22, all black, road tyre with decent puncture protection, valve is fine on my HED deep rim (not sure exact measurements though) but not that cheap at £50 - though with a Zipp you probably want a decent tyre.
