But thanks for the insght
I acquired this from that garage round the corner from Goldsmiths College - you know - the one with a pile of rusty bikes on the roof, which you can see if you're on the top deck of a bus. It's a tourer made by Tunturi in Finland. Apparently, they make exercise equipment now, but were bike manufacturers back in day. Some details: it's 10 speed, Huret levers on the downtube, Weinmann 750 Vainqueur 990 semi-automatic brakes, Huret Allvit derailleur. It has a one-piece bottom bracket. As far as the wheels are concerned - Weinmann rims "made in Belgium", Normandy hubs "made in France" 24 77 and 44 77 respectively, so we know how old they are. They are tubular, 27x1 1/4 32-630, both with Nokia Rollspeed LX tyres "made in Finland". Both wheels have Maillard quick release pins, the rear has a 5-speed Maillard freewheel. Rims say "Weinmann patent rims made in Belgium". The front wheel has been pumped up and retains air so is eminently useable. The rear tyre doesn't retain air and needs to be replaced. The bike may well have been outside in the open since the 70s, but all the gunk and crap and living things have been removed and, although there's still corrosion, it has cleaned up nicely. There's no chain - it had to be removed, as it was rusted beyond rescue. All the components move and the frame (58cm) is in good shape, so it looks eminently restorable. No idea whether in its day the bike was low-grade or something of quality, but what's left is definitely unusual and interesting and a good project for somebody. £60 for the lot, happy to discuss splitting the frame and wheels. The last couple of links should show the bike before I had a go at the dirt and rust.
