Readview, sorry, didn't read rules before posting, i'll try and delete thread
I'm a sporadic user of this forum seeing as I'm based in Bristol (would probably be able to meet up in London though as I'd be hesitant to post it), but wanted to offer these up here before resorting to ebay and because at the very least I thought you might appreciate some vintage fixed porn...
Just been given notice of redundancy, so looks like I'll be out of work 29th April. Getting rid of everything that I don't strictly need or use so...
Bates BAR Road/Path frame (Best All Rounder - their top of the line frame), 1958, recently fully restored by Argos Cycles to it's original factory colour (I got in touch with the guy who has the original order book to check).
Chroming was re-done but there is some mild pitting on the chainstay that could not be buffed out - purely cosmetic. Dropouts at rear and at fork have been ground out to allow use of 10mm axles to run modern kit and similarly the rear end re-set to 120mm from the older 110 standard. Comes with new headset as supplied by Argos. Technically a 23" frame, the slackasahookersbox seat angle means that, by more modern sizing standards, it's nearer a 22"-22 1/2", and as such it was too small for me anyway. It's in storage at the minute but will grab it out for more detailed measurements in another week or two.
All manner of pimpness has been applied as per the original order - this was a top of the line frame and therefore there is chrome, lug lining, and double box lining enough to get anyone's juices flowing. Oh, and don't forget the mad crazy fork and super stiff (for the period!) cantiflex tubing. It's a pretty unusual example as there really aren't many Bates road/path frames about with track ends.
Would be looking for £450 for F+F+HS. Still have the Argos receipt for, erm, a fair bit more than this for the restoration (not that it means anything as far as the value goes!).
Option of £700 for the full build which includes Rigida NOS 36h 27 1/4" rims on formula hubs with panaracer pasela TG tyres, one piece vintage style NOS sugino chainset (with shimano sealed BB), MKS pedals/clips and pimpy white straps, nitto stem and randonneur bars, cheapy seatpost and campag brakes. No saddle.

Plus:
Pimp road-race wheels - Pianni sprint rims on Royce hubs, 20h built by Pete Matthews, literally just been test ridden and nothing more - totally mint. Shimano freehub, bladed spokes front, DB rear. 1400g the pair. £200. (Hubs alone would cost nearly £300 to buy.)
Tufo Elite Ride tubular tyres, new and unused, 23mm, 250g. £45 each from planet-x. £65 the pair. Will chuck in tub tape for them.
Pair of planet-x wheel skewers. Alloy handle, chromo axle. New and unused. Front 48g, Rear 53g. £10
Just to reiterate, this stuff is all in Bristol but I can post or arrange a meet up. Just PM me if you want to discuss any options.
