  • I agree. Food should be the only fuel you use.

  • Certianly looks 'cerazy'...

  • As it is April, has anyone every seen anyone riding a Gocycle Electric bike?

Forget the cost what you ride a Gocycle Electric bike?**

  • Yes I saw a guy (Italian I think) riding one up Ludgate Hill the other week. We stopped at the temporary lights and I asked him about it. He said he's on the 4th motor, they keep breaking down. He then whizzed off along the flat, leaving me wondering why he was kitted out in proper cycle garb.

  • Just Visited VELOBerlin, bike show, the electric bike market appears to be massive in Germany....maybe more than 20% of bikes on show...with a lot of the major brands getting in on the act....My landlord has an electric bike, forget which brand, it has some sort of intuitive accelerator / regulator, pedal fast ift goes fast....weird. If it gets people out of cars or just out of the house more they are a brilliant step forward for personal transportation.

  • I kind of like the looks of this one:

Belt drive and a gearless rear hub

  • FlyKly 'Smart Wheel'

Designed by a bathroom salesman. Set up by a dumbass.

  • Was coming on to post this ^

I think it looks like a good design...

  • Look like a massive faff for the mechanic if the spoke snapped.

I'll be happy to charge people extra with those electric bicycle.

  • (And merge opportunity, of course.)

  • Is this the place where I can rile and raleigh against these fuckers...?

In general - 60 year old men, with no bike handling skills flying an average of 25mph up the cycle lane.

  • I think times are changing. Some of the new bikes look pretty good and I've seen some pretty rad fat bike conversions. I'm tempted to convert my old DH bike to an electric bike myself. The DH oriented trail centers are so far away and pushing the 20kg sled up the local hills is just too much work.

  • Saw an electric brommmmmmmmmpton last weekend.

  • Had a (very quick) shot of a Yamaha powered 27.5" wheeled Haibike today.

Power was pretty impressive if a bit 'laggy'. It's got the motor at the bb so the weight is nice n centralised, felt like you might actually manage to do done 'proper' riding on it unlike the bikes I've tried with the motor in the wheel.

Spec and finishing kit was real nice too, especially considering it only costs £2k.

  • Relatively okay electric bike: Vrum Cattiva

    Nice.

  • This bike (well in black and chained to a fence) outside the office in Throgmorton Ave this morning? Any one claiming ownership?

  • Very Californian but looks like fun for the UK too... https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/sondors-electric-bike#/story

  • Those Zehus electric hubs with regenerative braking are spaced for a minimum 120mm. So presumably any track bike could easily be made electric just by swapping out the rear wheel.

I can't think of any situation in which I would actually want the electrical assist, but the fact that it's technically possible makes part of me want to try it just for shits and giggles.

  • This one.....

  • So my uncle is after an e-bike, but he lives in the lake district, where you can't move for hills, and steep gradients whilst not that long, are around every corner. Any recommendations?
