Tange levin/passage headset alternative

Hi,

i need a new headset and these seem to be quite popular.

are there any alternatives out there for similar money for 1" threaded forks?

They are cheap and reasonable. However Tange Levin Alloy NJS are not well sealed and I dont' know if the Passage suffers from the same problem.

A good alternative is the Ritchey Logic threaded 1" and you can find them at eBay.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but does anyone know if theres actually any difference between the regular Tange Levin and the NJS version? Is there an actual difference or is it just that one comes with an njs stamp and the other doesnt?

I just received the Tange Sekai Levin NJS headset, and have to say agree with louisc in saying that the seal ain't great. Not sure the difference between the NJS and non-NJS models.

Non-NJS Levin is pretty great for the money, looks good too.

Good looking indeed. It is a really well make shiny piece of kit.

Campag Record 1 inch threaded you know its what you want - Parker do them for them for about £35

Or get two Levins for that money.

They look revolting though.

Think Ill just go for the regular levin, seems like it will do the job just fine.

I just bought a Levin NJS Alloy Headset.

They are different from the regular CDS Levin in that they look like an early Campag Record headset. The CDS is much plainer and they're all slightly different sizes.

Regular steel CDS Levin: 33.3 mm Stack Height

Levin NJS Chromed Steel: 38.2mm Stack

Levin NJS Alloy: 37.5 mm stack height
