  • Here's a tip - if the brooks is too hard, loosen the bolt a bit to allow the saddle to slag, ride it for a couple weeks, and then tighten it back to where it used to be.

much quicker, cheaper and easier to break in the brooks.

  • I'm looking at buying a Brooks B17 for the purple commuter, also will fit in nicely with the upcoming Tweed Run :-)

I read this the other night out of interest if it's any use/help Sumo?

    http://www.bikeandsaddle.com/pages/display/cycle_saddle_care

What's so bad about the B17? Thought it was the staple of the Brooks range (plus the cheapest!)

  • It's supposed to be a rear HED3 and a new chain. It hasn't happened and my project is still on hold. Fuuuuuu!

  • Currently looking for ingenious ways to attach the handlebars to the box. I like smallfurrys suggestion but don't really trust the rubber part.

I've found these (a fixing for railings)

which will do the job but to be frank look totally over engineered and heavy. I was also thinking about some plumbing bits. Does anyone know how strong this will be

I'd use two for each side. Will this take the stress of me swinging a box around? I guess they're not designed to take much abuse as water pipes don't tend to move too much.

  • I think I'd go for this type:

Use longer bolts and put the base plate inside the box, spreads to the load and to pull the bars off the box you either have to break two bolts or pull a big plate through the wall.
