I believe you rip it off before unpicking the single stitch underneath.
Are you sure you don't want to try a sealing glue first? -

So do I immerse the whole thing in water to find the leak, then rip off a small section of the base tape where the leak is? Not heard of sealant - does it work? It is a small leak ...

Buy some Tufo Latex Sealant.. you deflate the tub, unscrew the valve, and squirt it in.
- the excess will seal your next puncture. :-)
Unpicking and sewing seems like a lot of work - what with all this modern technology.

Beat me to it! ;-)
I have a tufo liquid sealant. Not used it yet but have used aerosol ones successfully.
(gas ones are harmful to the environment though so I swithed to tufo)
It's a natural latex which you sueeze into the valve and let roll down inside towards hole.
It seals when in contact with air. Supposed to be good.

Has this dark air ever asked for a sweet at Condor?

Unfortunately the air was mis-labeled as Bianchi and is now no longer available.

Any advice where to purchase replacement base tape from?
Is it advisable to replace this in its entirety?
About 8 inches of base tape has come away, it has one tear and the rest is not very strongly glued IMO.
Cheers, P

Apologies to dig up an old thread - I am in the same situation but can't find that Tufo stuff for my repair.
Anyone know if this stuff is suitable? I have Conti Sprinter 250 tubs:

I can't seem to find out if the No-Flats product comes with a way to remove the valve core (I presume this is how I get the goo into the tyre) - or even if my tyre even has a removable valve core - any thoughts?
Took it off the rim, now do I have to undo the base tape stitching with a sewing needle? Or rip it off? Help!
