Bent chainring or cranks?

  • Trial and error.
    It could be anything from the general area if you haven't sourced it yet. Wouldn't be great if you dropped cash on a new crankset only to find it was the pedals.
    Check for dirt on chain, chain ware, play in pedals, dirt on BB spindle, loose bolts, possibly a crack in the frame.
    A good cleaning an a new layer of grease may help.

    erm, not exactly no. 1st stop will be to clear the crap off it, I need to do a few tweaks to it anyway (cables, brake blockes etc).

  • When i had creaky cranks all it took was a dis- and re-assembly, plus tightening the crank bolts like fuck. However, they were square taper so i'm not sure if it translates to octalink or whatever the langster has...
