Did you give your bike a good going over after the mud, rain, snow (also grit) of the winter?
erm, not exactly no. 1st stop will be to clear the crap off it, I need to do a few tweaks to it anyway (cables, brake blockes etc).

When i had creaky cranks all it took was a dis- and re-assembly, plus tightening the crank bolts like fuck. However, they were square taper so i'm not sure if it translates to octalink or whatever the langster has...

Trial and error.
It could be anything from the general area if you haven't sourced it yet. Wouldn't be great if you dropped cash on a new crankset only to find it was the pedals.
Check for dirt on chain, chain ware, play in pedals, dirt on BB spindle, loose bolts, possibly a crack in the frame.
A good cleaning an a new layer of grease may help.
