I've used the velo orange adaptor which you can get from Freshtripe and others.
It's just an OEM product so probably the same as other brands. It does the job and is polished silver so looks reasonably classic.

They seem to more or less all be the same - just with a variation in weight.
I do actually remember there being a longer thread about this on the forum, but all I can find right now is this: https://www.lfgss.com/thread58022.html
I'll be doing the same to my gazelle soon, had enough of quill stems flexing all over the place

ha. We're all looking for vintage looks with modern performance.
I hear ya on the stem length thing. Quills are a huge ballache - both in terms of getting the right one for your position and also because occasionally you have to bin some perfectly good bartape because you want to try something else out

sjs cycles have a good stock of them btw

I bought one from highonbikes on ebay. Can't remember what make, might have been unbranded. With it fully down in the steerer it still stuck above the stem, so I chopped it down a bit. You can't even see it so looks don't matter, but the top cap looks a little funny.
I honestly think there will be zero noticable difference between brands. -

The one I got from freshtripe doesn't have a top cap. It's a one piece forging so the top is smooth. The only downside is that it protrudes above the stem so you may need a spacer so that it looks flush.

how do you tighten the quill bit then?

It's smooth aside from the hole for the bolt. What I meant was that there isn't a separate little cap as with some adaptors.

prolite one looks quite good. Joeslain had a nice black one on his Roberts when i saw it saturday.. not sure what it was though

I have the Nitto one and it's beautifully made, if a little pricey.
I am using it with an X2 at the mo and it needs spacers, or has a cm, or so exposed. Seems like most adaptors are a little larger than i would've liked and because I wanted a black one and one that didn't have a pony looking top bolt part, it limited my choices a bit.
As with most Nitto stuff I think the silver is a little bit cheaper. I would thoroughly recommend it if you can justify the price.
