• If your looking to get into track racing or if you just want a bike that's a bit retro then this is the one for you!!

If you turned up at Manchester, Herne Hill or anywhere, they'd just tell you to piss off.

    ...and it's "you're" not "your"!

  • I'd like to see Mike Ashley ride one.

  • What's retro about it? that it's a modern copy of something made in 2008 doesn't make it retro.

  • who took the FOFFA stickers off that bike

  • Look at the 2 different photos of it, priceless depth and perception, those wildly different images

  • I would love to have a go on one though. Only to see how long it took me to snap/bend/melt...

It also saddens me that they seem to propose it can be used on the track.

  • It can be used on the track, but you can also accidentally get shot by doing so. Just saying like.

  • I'm far too cool to be seen on one of these.

In a completely unrelated matter, anyone know where to buy cheap spray paint and/or colnago headstock badges?

    :p

    Colnago question in Unipack thread.
    You don't deserve an answer.

  • Just a note on Create bikes - I bought one just over a year a go for £200 delivered. Annoyingly I didn't see all the posts about them here before buying - however..

I have ridden it really hard, in stock trim (apart from pedals), and just generally abused it for a year, and so far it has done me well. Sure, it's very heavy, the wheels flex under power but if you're just looking for a cheap run around and don't need to cover loads of distance they're not a HUGELY bad decision.

On the flip side, it's been a year now and my rear hub is starting to go! But, I'm not the average use case for this bike, I jump it, chuck it against lamposts, ride it in all weather and barely maintain it so it's not particularly surprising!

Just be aware they're not a quality device, but will serve many people's purpose if you're considering one!

  • But yeh, don't try and compete on it! Makes life difficult for sure!!

Totally agree - bought one last year and have had no probs whatsoever - commute from N16 to Bond St 5 days a week and it hasnt let me down once. Perfect introduction for single speed riding for someone who was initially testing the water with not a lot of money to spend.

  • jonseager and jwlegget - should i put them on ignore or stalk them in search of idiot popcorn?

  • both

  • Jedward, the Create/et all bicycle does not have quality control, so it sound like you managed to get one that was put together properly.

  • The last couple of months I have seen a hell of a load of Creates on the road. Even around West London. Actually I think Urban Outfitters (Hipster Heaven) in Kensington is also selling them. Perhaps they are now being put together well. Or people are buying them, kit form and getting them put together by LBS, I really don't know. But they are everywhere!

  • They're not now being well put together, the lack of quality control on those bicycle mean certain part might be more suspectable to failure, especially the frame.

It's only a few that were put together properly to make them last a bit but it doesn't make them better quality.

  • Well Clara and I spotted a girl testing a bike from BLB yesterday, it was a single speed with no rear brake. Surely that's not legal?

  • Jedward,

    Repped

Not sure how much of a good/bad thing this will turn out to be...

all i know about SD is that this will make the creates look like the best bike on earth. SD make teh lowest quality stuff and push it out. tehy just buy what ever bike is cheapest, slap on a logo from one of the licenses they own and done. (dunlop bikes anyone?) there bikes tend of have the kind of brakes where the metal bit the cable guide sits in is so week it bends out after a few use's, AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL COMPANY.

apparently, creates aren't sold in Urban outfitters, there jsut there for show, to look cool, at lest thats what happens in the Manchester UO. there not for sale there.

  • I bought a blank frame on ebay for a very cheap price and when it turned up it was a create, it had the original bottom bracket in it and while trying to remove it the whole thing exploded. Thats not very reassuring! I built it up anyway as I wanted to get a feel for riding a frame with track geometry and have a nice ish looking bike as my previous frame was fooked. I have had it for about 8 weeks and it flexes a fair amount when really pushed and has an unnerving creak occasionally when you resist the pedals with a fair amount of force. I am now on the look out for a decent second hand steel frame as I am genuinely worried that this frame will snap, luckily the frame is the only Create part and the rest of the components are fairly decent quality. I'm taking it as a lesson learn't and motivation to go and buy something better, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone who is looking for a fixed/single speed bike/frame. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone infact! Unfortunately I was naive in my purchase and I think the seller was a little shady claiming he didn't know what brand it was when I'm sure he knew full well hence the silly price.

So yeah, anyone got a really cheap steel track frame that would go with white wheels?

  • The Create doesn't have a track geometry, moreover it appear to be closer to the well respected Charge Plug.

Have a look at on-one, their Pompino is the best value fixed wheel frame out there, or TokyoFixed with their steel Leader.

  • I think that SD 'track bike' has the ugliest crankset I've ever seen.
