  • Hey guys. Interested in where to get a frame powder coated or sprayed locally for not too much money. Si, do I remember you saying you got yours done for £30 somewhere local? Who did it, and how long did it take?

Any info appreciated :) Cheers guys.

  • beyton road industrial estate bruv, frame + forks should be arnd 30 beans

  • Ace, thanks man! How's the build going?

  • building it up tomo gotta wait for my bars n back tyre tho still

  • y'all getting new bikes for chrimbo?

  • Yep!

  • for sure bruvvvvvvva built it up 2day, still waitin on bars n grips n somehow transferin my chain off my old bike. LOOKS TOOOOO SICK!

  • ah sweet pic.

I'm sticking with my '09 bike into 2010 ;) Have just built up a slot dropout inbred tho, geared for now could ss/fix it up in the future if I want a superlight mtb setup.

More pics of new bikes needed!

  • The place I went to was down bayton road mate, i can't remember what it was called, but give me a bell when you're there and i'll meet you if you want, I live opposite.

  • Sounds sweet Andy! I had my eye on an inbred frame when I was first looking at SS a few months back. Obviously I went with the Charge instead, but an On-One frame is definitely on the cards at some point :)

Si, I need to get a frame first ;) Just doing the mental calculations at the moment, so I know how much I'm looking at spending. That way I can save the cash first (which is unlike me!)

  • I know this is an old post (well very old!) but I can't start up a new thread as I'm in m nursery period. Trying to build up my first fixed and want to get the frame re-sprayed, there seems to be a couple of powder coaters on bayton rd, which is the one everyone recommends? I only live down the road and am trying to do it as cheaply as possible thanks in advance

  • Why not rattle can it if you're on a budget?

  • It's a budget but figured that by the time I've thrown nitromors everywhere il get a better quality finish if I got it done properly. I work in brum and have heard bournes are quite decent with bikes. This is my first fixie so I'm not breaking the bank on components and will upgrade bits as I go along

  • I've heard that City Powder Coaters are OK for the money. Last I heard, they were doing a chemical strip and powder coat at £20 for a frame and £5 for forks. You would have to protect the BB/threads yourself with an old knackered bottom bracket etc, as they don't do any prep work I'm told.

  • If you are on a budget then stick with the old paint no matter how vile it is. Personally I always feel that it is better spending money on decent components than on a paint job for a frame that you probably won't keep.

  • Has anyone managed to get an acceptable finish by brush painting and then rubbing down (wet & dry + rubbing compound)?

I do not really want to take my bike wholly apart (1965 Moulton) as I am not sure all the suspension components will go back together properly and all the threads are imperial, etc.

    Thanks, James.

  • ^ Probably better asked in the main forums rather than the Cov sub forum. It's not a Coventry specific dilema you're facing!

  • Why not rattle can it if you're on a budget?

Probably cost more or as much as a £20 powdercoat from city powder coaters to be honest - that car paint from halfords ain't cheap and you need a couple of cans for primer, main coat and lacquer...

  • +nitromors or fucking loads of time and a bit of sandpaper

  • Profinish Powder Coating
    49-51 Jodrell Street
    Nuneaton CV11 5EG
    024 7634 1092

real good had loads of my bmx and racer frames done there and a pretty quick turn around if there not to busy.

  • Hi all, wondered if anyone knows any place that could remove a stuck seatpost. Thanks

  • you could try asking one of the bike shops - albany or cov cycle centre?
there are threads about doing it yourself on here, to be honest if you have access to a vice you've got as good a chance as anyone..

  • Thanks for the info. She's jammed on tight. My first build too!!

  • Search the LFGSS forum for tips on removing it. There are several options.
