My bank called a couple of weeks ago coz someone tried to buy sth online for £340 from the US?? I couldn't think of where could my card been cloned apart from buying things from CRC and Wiggle. Gla the stopped the transaction there and then. Never use debit card online, they can stop my credit card all they like but my debr card? I'd be dead in a matter of days.

bank had my card stopped after 3 £15 02 top ups were blocked on 4th march. placed an order on crc on 1st march. good that the bank blocked it first, how do they know i'm not with o2? have to have a new card delivered though.

I recently bought stuff from them (about 2-3 weeks ago) and have since had my card cloned. This is the first I've heard about it being possibly CRC though, had no email or calls. Luckily the transactions were blocked, even though they tried small things first like Google Android apps and 02 top ups. Then they went for an £800 sofa from House of Fraser. Shall be getting in touch with CRC...

Ordered something on there last night and used Paypal, should I be looking out for dodgy O2 top-ups or am I ok?

Should be ok with Paypal but no harm in being vigilant.

Just want to add a warning to this thread. Whoever took my credit card details took my address details as well. They have changed the postal address. McDodge. Keep your eyes peeled.

CRC have just cancelled an order of mine as the price they listed was apparently an error.
Given that they frequently reduce the price on certain "colourways" and odd sized items, whilst charging full RRP on all other colours/sizes, as a means to appear cheaper at first glance, I can't say I'm impressed.
The item that I purchased wasn't discounted any more heavily than what you would usually expect from them. I could understand if we were talking of something of monetary note, ie more than the £40 that their error represented or if I was a brand new customer but in reality, I have spent countless thousands with them over the years and a £40 hit to their bottom line isn't exactly going to affect CRC in any meaningful way, however it would instil in me for the briefest of time, a vague hope that they may actually value customer loyalty.
Alas, this is not the case and is just another in a long line of CRC perpetrated fuckups witnessed over the years that I have used their services. Additionally, this was to be the first that I've dared to use them since their dishonesty over the other content in this thread.
I'm happy to announce that I will now direct all of my custom elsewhere, confining CRC to the same lowly regard as Winstanleys Bikes.
Many thanks.
Emilié Object.

As a balance, I ordered some Time MTB shoes from Planet-X when they had a 50% sale on them. Turns out they had accidently halfed the price twice it seems. A couple minutes later the price was corrected. I was a bit worried as the correct price would have meant customs etc. and a bigger outlay of funds (albiet still a fair price I suppose).
But Planet-x honoured the price I bought at. Decent honest shop that.

HSBC just called me to say my card details may have been stolen and that they've cancelled it and issued a new one. I failed to ask who'd been hacked to prompt this, but I wonder if it was CRC finally fessing up to the banks.

So who IS worth shopping through?!?!

Wouldn't happen that way.
More likely your bank's own monitoring for unusual activity.

I've never gone far wrong with Brixton Cycles and Parker International. Occasionally Wiggle. Source and Brighton BMX too.
My favourite online shop is Tarty Bikes but unless you're into the very specific type of bikes that they cater for they're not going to be much help.

Parker, Ribble, FuelSport, odd PBK order, odd Wiggle order. No probs with any of them.
I sent them an email this morning and got an answerphone message from someone within about 10 minutes, so they're definitely onto it. Although the email they said they were sending me has yet to materialise.
