PS
MinhDinh about critical mass: it isn't a routed ride as such, there's no set distance. We're all gathering to ride together and the route we take is only decided by the front of the mass on the spur of the moment. You can just leave whenever you'd had enough, and as it tend to meander around and around central london (mostly) it's always pretty easy to get back onto your known route home. A highly recommended London experience! And sound system bikes often turn up, so there's good music and tons of nice friendly people to chat with as you ride. Hope to see you there, lots of people here gather at a particular spot at South Bank at the start so find the thread about it and come down to say hi. It gets really massive some months, especially in summer. -

@Skully. I love it too. I have ridden a 125 cc motobike for a few years but there's something nice about knowing I rode to a particular place. The only issue is theft and fear. I don't trust any place now since my first experience was really annoying and i'll admit upsetting :s
My thighs have gone huge although i'm quite skinny at the rest. my knees look weird lol because they are small
When do you guys leave south bank? I work until 6 and saw on the website it's at 6. Seems really sweet to have random rides and I will sure mention on ehre when i join and look forward to seeing you guys :)
this forum is the friendliest i have been on. great bunch of lads.

and lasses :-)
Minh I think you've stirred something in us all, quite a few people come on here and get slated for various reasons (some valid, some not)
I think you've reminded us that we all started somewhere and we all should ride bikes because it's funYou are a breath of fresh air my friend.
Hope to see you on a ride soon

@minhdinh CM never leave southbank before seven ish, but turning up earlier is a good chance to get chatting to people beforehand.
Don;t know what to say to you about theft. A lot of people have scruffy bikes, helps make them less attractive. Also be aware of how to lock up well (i.e. what to, where, and through which bits of bike), and invest in the best lock you can afford.
cheers

I have to admit I chickened out, not ebcause of the snow but mainly because of the distance. I only ever really did 10MPH before and 3 miles isn't much.
Good on you guys for organizing your own ride and documenting it and stuff! As for chickening out, if you get your guys to do one of the bigger rides, or even one other friend, it's much easier! The longest ride I think I'd ever done prior to the Tweed Ride in Jan '09 was about 10 miles and the Tweed was 22.5! Just goes to show you don't know what you can do until you do it. Plus, often the social rides are much slower, though there was that one Bridges ride where everyone basically raced around the city. Still, it was wicked fun!

I only work 3 minutes away from frampton park road where the hackney cyclist workshop is so I will be there at 7. I shall take pics of that for you guys. Anyone on here go there?
I sometimes do, but I can't make it tonight.
Be aware that they often get very busy, but Paul especially is extremely knowledgeable about bikes and bits. Hope he's there! Say hello to them from me.

My boss who has the felt z100 has planned a ride from lea bridge road to greenwich on a bicycle route this sunday! he has 5 kids and does not have time at normal hours on sundays like we do. It is early because most of us are all muslim and have pray 5 times a day, one being a very early morning one near sunrise so it's convenient for us. i am a muslim convert (september 2008) so you all know.
No beer rides for me now! :p

That video was hilarious. Sounds like you're getting into this cycling malarkey.
For a totally different kind of ride, try heading into the Lea Valley - it's off the roads and has some open space.
