nope, wouldn't be a problem. it's best if you set it up with a ghost shift at the bottom end instead of just locking out the top end (ie using 2nd and 3rd shift, not 1st and 2nd). that way you don't risk pulling too hard on the the cable and putting a load of stress on the internals of the shifter. plus, you often get a bit more of trim that way.
