Why can't I get this new tyre on my bike?

'ere we fuckin' go again!

put tyre (half) on rim
put a bit of air in tube
put tube in tyre
make sure tube is in tyre
put half of bead on rim
let air out of tyre
put rest of tyre on rim (whilst swearing loudly)
use tyre levers to get bead on if necessary.

It's not going to work until he finds out:

1. What rim's width
   
2. What inner tube he's got
   

i put the tube in the tire before putting the tyre on, oh well.

the tyre i took off is solid and this new one flops about all over the shop

every time i get 3/4 of the way i put a bit of tyre on and another part further down pops out

the tyre you took off has a rigid (metal) bead.
The new one has a non-rigid (kevlar?) bead

Fuck me, a grown man not being able to put a tyre on??

should i try one side at a time or try to get both sides on at the same time?

Put one side on at a time.
When you are working the bead over the rim wall, make sure that the bead that has gone on is in the "well" of the rim.

Put the tyre in the microwave on high for 15mins then it goes soft as butter and it'll be piss easy
