•

Not sure if it belongs in epic fail or here,as it is both.

This eve I leave learnt why 10spd road frames do not make good fixed conversions.

Got home from work a few hours early so got set to rider down to the beach with some cheesecake, like you do.

Last descent to the beach thought I would give it some proper beans.
Mistake.

Whole frame is a bit flexy, cranks are mafe from jelly and I'm using 3/32 ss chain, you can probably are where this is going.

Chain dumps off the chairing and spontaneously snaps, then chain whips itself around the rear cog, snaps again then jams the rear wheel. Already I'm on the brakes, but too late. The rear (tub) is already screaming for mercy, then pop, she's gone. I'm still sliding though, this was a fair old hill and frankly 70s canti brakes are bollocks at the best of times.
An
So, ripped right through the carcase of the tub in an impassive manor, annihilated a decent chain, and faced a long long walk/carry home.
well I managed to eat the cheesecake with a descent view, so not all bad :)
