FWIW, a standard chainwhip and a cheater bar will remove the cog from a Fuji hub. If I'd known about the loctite in advance I'd have used a solvent though. Never found the bars a problem, though I only really use the flats. The wheels are pretty naff though - replacing them transforms the bike.

My BB on my Feather '10 has been creaking for 9 months now on and off. It's got to the point now where it needs replacing, as it's more of a grinding clunk.
I made the mistake of taking it to Evans before Christmas, I don't think they even looked at it.
I might try and do it myself, or at least by a new BB and take it to someone with the right tools.
Has anyone worked out what the correct threading is?
Sorry if it's already above, I'm tired, dyslexic and lazy.

english threaded, 107mm axle I believe.
-
• #56
Blimey that was quick. Thanks!
-
• #57
could be 103mm axle, but I'm pretty sure it's 107.
-
• #58
actually scratch that, I think the stock one is 103mm. You could take the cranks off and just measure it, that would be easiest.

You were right first time Sumo. 107 English.
Anyone know what BCD the chainring is?
I don't have a ruler.
-
• #60
Look like 130BCD, but couldn't be sure.
-

Ta Ed. That's what I thought but could be 135. I wish they'd just give this info with the spec.

You can always pop round to a reputable LBS and ask them for their opinion if you still can't find out.

-

there are a couple of fuji feathers on ebay for £300 if you still want one, i think they only have the pink left.

Hi, I'm having trouble having to justify the £200 price gap between these two bikes
Fuji feather
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/fuji/feather-2012-single-speed-bike-ec031250Bianchi pista http://www.evanscycles.com/products/bianchi/pista-steel-2012-single-speed-road-bike-ec025819
I've asked a couple of friends and they've all said Pista... Could someone justify the £200 increase and are there any other better alternatives?
Thank you

bianchi: because.

Shinyness!

• #68
lol thanks! :P I was hoping for more technical answers
-
• #69
^ with a little tinkering you won't look a /complete/ plunker on the bianchi.

• #70
Shiny = faster. Technical fact.

The extra two hundred quid is a thank you to Bianchi for all the extra girls you'll meet on the Bianchi.

I was weighing up the same options about half a year ago. I went for the Bianchi and I love it. However, a friend has the Feather and it's also real nice.

The Fuji is ligher, the Bianchi is stiffer. Not much in it otherwise.
I'd buy a Fuji track though rather than the Feather or (as wharry says) buy (or build up) something pre owned.
Thread merge?

Golly- Bianchi Pista at £705, that's mental.
I thought they were quite expensive when they were £400.
The Feather is a faux-classic mess, one to avoid.
Fuji Track for sure, over the Feather.
I'll let ya know how it goes.. picked up a 110 shimano BB-UN54
hopefully the old one just needs a loosening rather than replacement - its only a year old so shouldn't really need it yet huh.
In regards to the above - feather or track.... The new 11 range has a fancy white ghost version, but other than that seems the same as the 10. Same parts etc.
The classic isn't anywhere near as tight on frame clearance (a quick look noticed) - less of a track based feel I'd say
