A lot of old frames I've seen were built like this... Riders preferred to get tuck down low over the top tube for maximum aero benefit... True story...

Thought it might be designed around a really long pump

Yeah, it is a real beauty! The dimensions are not that crazy though, just a little longer on the reach, which can be compensated with a shorter stem.
Pop by the studio PQR, i can take some photos for a "small" fee ;)

Hey Bonobo. Tis a stunner. Free bump for a question:
My 25 yr old Mercian is lookin fairly bandy these days... how much did that paint job and renovation end up costin you in total?
Cheers

As mentioned, the renovation was done a couple of years ago, prices at Mercian have gone up since it was done. I would have a look at their website, you can get it done cheaper, but defiantly not better. Check out the Mario Vaz thread. I've heard good thing about his renos.

Hey Everyone
I'm very very reluctantly selling my Mercian Track frame. I've had this hanging on my wall for a while now and I know that I'm just not going to build it up, so it really deserves a new home.
As mentioned the frame is from 1957 (frame number 6457). Its had a respray a couple of years ago and has been built up once.
The paint job is stunning! Its main colour is an aquamarine flamboyant, offset with very light green head tube and seat tube rings, lugs are lined in gold with period transfers.
The frame has no dings or dents, there are a couple of tiny chips to the paint work but they have been filled in. The frame does have marks from where the wheels have been put on. but that's about it. You will not be dissapointed with the condiition of this frame, it really is a beauty! Proper collectors piece.
The dimensions are as follows:
ST: 53cm ctc
TT: 57cm ctc
English thread BB
1" threaded English steerer
Asking for £500.
Cash on collection. Can be collected from my studio in Archway or at home in Camden. Will post nationwide for cost.
Also, if you want to have a look before you buy, PM me.
Dibs and PM please. Forum donation will also be made from the sale.
