I had to buy a bike quickly today (since I misplaced my Klein fixed conversion on Brick Lane yesterday sniff) and I need to a bike for work. I looked in at 14bikeco, but didn't like any of the frames enough to pay £650 + for them, BLB was shut, so I went to Evans and bought a Fuji Feather. Pic:
http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/1290/fujifeather.jpgI think it's alright, bit heavy and the wheels look crappy. Don't get those saddles either. I think it's reasonable for £450, and I like that you can walk away with a built one of these within a few mins. Might look good resprayed in one of those matte blues that 14bikeco have in store - nice colour.

you get what you pay for really, good little bike for those who want one.

You're right. Very nice colour. I ordered mine last week. I hear it chips though so maybe not suitable for an everyday bike.

any bike that hasn't been powdercoated chipped mate, don't worry about it.

It's the best bike I've never riden.

I was deciding between the track and the feather and ended up going with the track. didn't seem like the price jump was worth what you get.
quill stem - meh
sealed hubs - nice
bars - I'm ok with the ones on the track
crank & wheelset - is there a big diff in quality here?
seatpost - see aboveI just couldn't justify the price for these "upgrades"...

saddle is definitely better on the feather tho

I just thought it was marginally more distinctive looking than the Track, I doubt it rides any better (heavier too?). Took it out properly tonight and folks were looking at it when it was parked up, so I guess it looks at least alright. I think it's a bit bland.
First time I've ridden something steel at length though; quite good fun.

Evening all.
So what do we think of this? fair price/good kit?
Whatever opinions i have about bikes seem to get slated here, so lets throw this to the lions.http://www.evanscycles.com/products/fuji/feather-2010-single-speed-road-bike-ec022189

no idea what any of that means

Pretty sweet looking bike, and they've clearly done their research; quill stem, aero seatpost, drops and Concor style saddle are the desirable components of the day.

Just ran it through a translation engine;
I think the Fuji company represents good value for money, lightweight bicycles which are in fact better than many of their competitors.
I am hoping to purchase a Fuji Track Comp (red and white colour) in a few weeks time. I don't know why I would do that though as this thread is specifically about the Fuji Feather so shouldn't I be buying one of those, mmm??
I guess I am just commenting on Fuji as a company and stating that their whole range is good. Yes, that's it. -

so as a first fixed you guys dont think its worth the extra money for the looks? (track to feather)

Have the same problem, but it looks like you are buying a frameset eventually. All the crapy stuff you will change sooner or later. So the only big difference is color and fork/stem (of you care about more classic 1" or don't mind a-head).
I'd go for a Classic Track, and change the saddle right away, and this is what i am going to do.
Splash!
P.S. anyone has **black **fork form Track and would like to switch for a white one?

Bumpity bump!
I think I remember someone on the forum mention some cheapo shops on the continent selling Fuji (pista, feather etc).
UTFS and google.de only gave me one place and about 500 euros for feather. Any others?
Not going to import to the UK, but having it sent to Scandinavia from wherever I can find it cheap. -

Does anyone know the spec details of the bottom bracket on this? 110 or 113? 68?
I'm just about to replace it but was a little unsure which to get - it might even just need tightening..I've had the yellow feather for just over a year now - and yep - you start stripping bits and bobs off it but has been a decent enough ride. had to lose those god awful bars straight up. TBH the bits are all standard. I tried to get the cassette off the other day - fail, the guy at LookMumNoHands could only suggest destroying the freewheel to get the fixed cassette off... hmm... I don't use the free but surely this isn't the best solution...
Otherwise quite sturdy and a fast ride.

fuji bikes come with the fixed sprocket loctite'd on, so they're hard to remove but it is possible.
yeah Ben is great, really impressed always with his service
