According to Pete
'They work well, you don't(can't) come out of them, and they Never wear out'

the first rule of SPD-Rs is that we don't talk about SPD_Rs ;)

Ebay for the Exustars unless you fancy getting jiggy with a drill?
I'm considering going back to spd-r and drilling my bonts as the exustar "track" pedals I bought last year have developed a nasty amount of play quite quickly.
Why can't people make things that just work?

And some other Shimano shoes from that era (at least some blue/yellow ones with a plastic sole, can't remember the type SH-R1xx)
I use Northwave Evolution with original NW adapter plates. -

Must get round to making my SPD-SL 'Proper mod'
Anyone got any old spare ones (current shape) I can saw up to find a good attachment point?
Ordered some of these
Hoping I can just bolt them on

you can also use the SPD-R adaptor plate on any "Look Compatible" 3 hole shoe.
Part number: SM-SH85

I've an old pair of sidis with an adapter plate. You are welcome to have.

But they increase your stack height massively and don't feel too secure, I had some, didn't like them.

You're right: always better without adapters.
But if the shoe soles are very thin, like mine, it can be absolutely okay.
I must say that I use Northwave adapters that fit the shoes exactly. And, SPD-R systems builds very low, so it compensates a bit.

Got a set of these adaptors with a pair of Adidas.
Let me know if any of you can use them.
